Roadside Retail
The rise of roadside retail began with the fast food chains — McDonalds has been opening drive thru restaurants since 1985 — but in recent years the offerings at service stations have increased enormously to include higher-end retail outlets such as Waitrose, M&S Simply Food and Costa. Property prominence and accessibility is now a fundamental requirement for many retailers and an increasing and wider ranging number of occupiers see roadside as an addition, or an alternative, to the high street.
